1. Talking Head Marilyns - Partly 20124-part gel transfer print on panel12x12 inches
The Talking Head Marilyns were a product of listening to Remain in Light almost obsessively while working on the Shinobi Marilyn series. As I heard the lyrics over and over I began to recognize ways in which the lyrics connected to Marilyn’s own demons.
In contrast to the Look/Kool Marilyn panel prints, the text in these is not separately prepared from the faces. It is part of the same surface, not collaged over, replacing her mouth with a voice that may or may not be hers.©Ashley Anderson

  3. St. Vincent’s Hospital201227-part gel transfer on panel12 x12 inches
This panel is part of a series I created for the “Shinobi Marilyn” show at Emily Amy Gallery. This panel differs from the rest in that the text replacing the eyes is borrowed from the refrain of "Surgeon", a song by St Vincent. Incidentally, the refrain itself is taken from a dream journal entry by Monroe.
Since this particular series of panels involves quite a lot of cutting and reassembly, the idea of the surgeon made perfect sense. To push it a little further, I decided to frankenstein the fragments of 8 of the 9 versions of Monroe, shuffling the tops and bottoms in purposefully mismatched, janky arrangements. The only unshuffled Marilyn is at center, flanked by a 4-eyed and an eyeless version of herself.

  4. J Trav and Marion2013Digital collage on modified photograph144 x 144 pixels
A commissioned piece for my friend J Trav’s calendar gift to his girlfriend. See the full calendar here: https://www.behance.net/gallery/Commissioned-Calendar/13383691
To make this, I took a high-res digital photo and purposefully degraded it, reduced the color, and then collaged over it. It was a nice experiment and I love the result!

  5. Window 01 (Nothing’s Happening)2013Digital collageDimensions variableI made 3 new collages for the MINT Postcard Pin-up show here in Atlanta. Basically I divided the picture into horizontal and vertical thirds, and colored in a 2x2 block of thirds and planned my images around the reversal of relationships between the block and the space around it. The idea of windows has been interesting me, so I went with that theme.

This is one of a set of 10 digital collages I made for the “Shinobi Marilyn” show at Emily Amy Gallery. This is definitely one of my favorite images from the series. I did a version where all the candle flames were the same and really didn’t like how stiff and easy it seemed. So I redrew every candle flame. All 843 of them.
Yep, I’m insane. But I get results. All three prints in this edition have sold, but there are still copies available of the other nine prints, though in some cases only one remains! If you’d like to buy a print contact the gallery directly. Thanks!
